Following a draw, the day starts with time trials which split the teams into either the Cup or the Plate Competition.  The adrenalin flows as teams race for the trophies, but all are heroes in our eyes and everyone goes home with a medal and a great sense of achievement.

We recommend that you bring a change of clothing as getting wet is not optional!

In addition to the racing, there is also a Barbecue, cake stall, fundraising activities and an opportunity to register children between the ages of 7 and 14 on a first-come-first-served basis for the lunchtime children's race.

We are always looking for new teams to enter the Dragon Boat Race, and this year we are hoping to make it an even bigger and better event.

New for 2018, there are two ways to enter which both include a free coaching session on the water.

  •   corporate teams: £500 minimum donation to be paid in full by 23rd June 2018

  •   non-corporate teams: £330 minimum sponsorship (£30 per team member) to be paid in full by 23rd June 2018

Additional sponsorship would of course be very much appreciated and can be brought along on the day or sent to our Treasurer by 1st September 2018.

Please make cheques payable to ‘Rudyard Sailability’ and send to Linda Gill (Treasurer), 10 Stratford Way, Ridge View, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK11 8XT.

If you’re looking for a fantastic day out and can pull together a team of 11 people to raise funds for Rudyard Sailability, then we’d love to hear from you.

To register a team for the Dragon Boat Race fundraising day at Rudyard Lake, please complete the appropriate form below – corporate or non-corporate - and return to dragonmaster@rudyardsailability.org.uk

As a registered charity, Rudyard Sailability relies on fundraising to keep our club running throughout the year. Our annual Dragon Boat Race is one of the ways in which we raise vital funds for our club and provide a lot of fun for our fundraisers.

Dragon boats are twin hulled, 11-man canoes with a walking platform between the twin hulls. A helmsman sits at the rear with a large oar that is used to steer the canoe. These boats are great fun, ideal for groups to get out on the water and perfect for our race day.
An action-packed, muscle-wrecking, side-splitting, team-building, splash-making, fund-raising Family Day
