Following a draw, the day starts with time trials which splits the teams into either the Cup or the Plate Competition. The adrenalin flows as teams race for the trophies, but all are heroes in our eyes and everyone goes home with a medal and a great sense of achievement.
We are always looking for new teams to enter our race each year, and this year we are hoping to make it an even bigger and better event.
In addition to the main boat racing there is also a Bar-b-cue, cake stall, and fund-raising activities and an opportunity to register children between the ages of 7 and 14 on a first come, first served basis, for the lunchtime children's race.
If you are looking for a fantastic day out with your work colleagues or friends, and can make up a team of 11 people, and would like to help us raise funds to keep Rudyard Sailability going, then we would like to hear from you.
We recommend that you bring a change of clothing as getting wet is not optional.
If you would like to enter a team for the Dragon Boat Race fund raising day at Rudyard Lake then contact Steve Hilton here, or phone Steve Hilton on 07818013118.

As a registered charity Rudyard Sailability relies on fund raising to keep our club running throughout the year. Our annual dragon boat race is one of the ways that we raise funds for our club, and provide a lot of fun for our fund raisers.
Dragon boats are twin hulled 11 man canoes with a walking platform between the twin hulls. A helmsman sits at the rear with a large oar that is used to steer the canoe. These boats are great fun and ideal for groups to get out onto the water, and ideal for our race day.
