Following a draw, the day starts with time trials which split the teams into either the Cup or the Plate Competition. The adrenalin flows as teams race for the trophies, but all are heroes in our eyes and everyone goes home with a medal and a great sense of achievement.

We recommend that you bring a change of clothing as getting wet is not optional!

In addition to the racing, there is also a superb barbecue, delicious cake stall, fundraising activities and a selection of art and craft stalls. Should you wish to set up a stall in our marquee then please contact the where you can reserve your pitch for £10 for the day. There is also an opportunity to register children between the ages of 7 and 14 on a first-come-first-served basis for the lunchtime children's race which has an entry fee of £3 per child.

As a registered charity, Rudyard Sailability relies on fundraising to keep our club running throughout the year. Our annual Dragon Boat Race is one of the ways in which we raise vital funds for our club and provide a lot of fun for our fundraisers.

What is a Dragon Boat Race?

Dragon boats are twin hulled, with 5 paddlers on either side and have a walking platform between the two hulls. The helm sits at the rear with a large oar that is used to steer the boat. These boats are great fun, ideal for groups to get out on the water and perfect for our race day

An action-packed, muscle-wrecking, side-splitting, team-building, splash-making, fund-raising Family Day
